Musical Bill of Rights
I completely agree with the statement that the voice is the most powerful musical instrument because it's inside you. The sound come directly from you and you can put any and all of your emotions into it. I also feel that it's the most satisfying form of expression. I also LOVE the statement that there are no non-musical people. Nothing irritates me more than people who say that they can't sing. Everyone can sing, it's part of being human, there are only those who haven't been trained or don't want to be.

I personally like the statement that there are as many different ways to make music as there are people. I think that comparing differences in people to the differences in music is a great way to open someones eyes to the vast idea of music. I also completely agree the statement that humans need to express themselves daily in a way that invites release. being expressive allows us to be who we are!! What is life without expression?
ReplyDeleteI would definitely agree with the statement "there are no unmusical people, only those with no musical experience" because everyone can appreciate music in his or her own way, and there really is no "one" way to express oneself through music. Going along with a theme, I also like the statement that "musical expression... is a mode of communication available to everyone" because, as a music ed major, I believe that everyone should get to experience music and be able to find some sort of release through music, regardless of skill level or experience.
ReplyDeleteI most enjoyed reading the 'right' about how music improvisation is a unique and positive form of life-expression. I absolutely agree with this statement. Musicians are able to explore and express their feelings through music (personally I would have never thought that my improv could relate to my mood on a given day). The other 'right' I found most interesting concerned the vibrations we as musicians send to one another. In general, people use the phrase 'I got a weird/good vibe from that person' in everyday conversation. I would have never thought to use my music to provide a positive vibe for someone. SO COOL! :)
